Island City Stage Launches Inaugural Emerging Directors Intensive
Fort Lauderdale, FL - May 23, 2024 - Island City Stage proudly announces the launch of its first-ever Emerging Directors Intensive, commencing on June 10, 2024. This three-week groundbreaking program, made possible through the generous support of the Community Foundation of Broward, aims to cultivate and empower the next generation of visionary directors.
Out of a pool of twenty-five applicants, 9 promising directors have been selected to participate in this prestigious program. The participants include Alex Gonzalez from Miami, Vanessa Villaverde from Cooper City, Isadelle Mercedes from Sunrise, Alyssa Fantel from Coral Springs, Kristin Kijanka from Fort Lauderdale, Sandi Stock from Fort Lauderdale, Morgan Lorenzo from Hollywood, Rayner Garranchan from Fort Lauderdale, and Brenda Maulbach from Lauderdale by the Sea.
The Emerging Directors Intensive promises to be a transformative journey for its participants, immersing them in a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide them with an intermediate understanding of the foundational principles essential for directing successful theater productions. From the analysis and interpretation of dramatic texts to the nuances of casting and guiding actors in performance, participants will receive invaluable insights into every aspect of the directorial process.
Throughout the program, aspiring directors will have the opportunity to refine their skills in improvisation, blocking, dramaturgy, pacing, and intimacy, while also developing their own unique directorial voice. With a focus on hands-on learning and mentorship from industry professionals, participants will be empowered to unleash their creative potential and emerge as skilled and confident directors.
